About the 3AF Awards Competition

The Asian American Advertising Federation (3AF) is the “leading resource” when it comes to Asian advertising, Asian marketing, and the power of the Asian American consumer. We are a national trade organization comprised of Asian American advertising agencies, corporate marketers/advertisers, Asian media, marketing research firms and other industry vendors and partners. Through our national summit, webinars, marketing research studies, online resources, video library, and our vast network of Asian marketing experts, we are dedicated to helping marketers understand the business case for and how best to reach the critical Asian American consumer segment. Additionally, 3AF seeks to promote and encourage high standards of conduct and ethics among our members and our industry. The 3AF Asian Marketing Summit, the largest national conference focusing solely on the Asian American consumer, is held annually.

To honor the “best and brightest” work in our industry and also recognize and thank important industry partners, the Asian American Advertising Federation bestows awards in eight distinct categories in our annual awards competition, the 3AF Excellence Awards.

Entry Criteria

3AF members in good standing may submit any number of entries or nominations for any category. Non-3AF members can only enter two categories: Media Partner of the Year and Marketing Research Partner of the Year. They can still be nominated by 3AF members in the Marketer of the Year and New Marketer of the Year categories. For a 3AF membership, please visit the membership page on our web site.

Award Categories

  • Media Campaign/Media Innovation of the Year | NEW
  • Outstanding media strategies that target AAPI. This award honors agencies or media services companies that use innovative thinking, market insights, and effective execution to produce exceptional media results.

  • Public Relations/Social Media Campaign of the Year
  • Outstanding PR/social media strategy that has demonstrated excellence in engaging AAPI audiences.

  • Digital Campaign of the Year
  • Outstanding stand-alone campaign using the Internet or online-based digital technologies such as computers, mobile phones, and other digital media and platforms to promote products and services to AAPI consumers.

  • Creative Campaign of the Year
  • Outstanding creative excellence of a client campaign, developed for one or more AAPI consumer target audiences.  One Grand Prize winner (Gold) will be selected, followed by a 1st Runner Up (Silver) and 2nd Runner up (Bronze).

  • Marketer of the Year
  • Awarding a client or supporter of the industry that has demonstrated outstanding contribution via investment or dedication to the 3AF mission to grow the AAPI advertising and marketing industry, while raising public awareness of the importance of the AAPI community.

  • New Marketer /Client of the Year
  • Awarding a new client or supporter of the industry that has emerged within between 1/1/22 to 04/05/24 and demonstrated outstanding contribution via investment or dedication to the 3AF mission to grow the AAPI advertising and marketing industry, while raising public awareness of the importance of the AAPI community.

  • Marketing Research Partner of the Year
  • Awarding a marketing research partner who has contributed greatly to an AAPI research study through new research techniques, insights, marketplace successes, etc.

  • Media Partner of the Year
  • Awarding a media partner or vendor within the industry, who has demonstrated outstanding contribution to 3AF and/or to outstanding efforts to promote a brand, product or service to AAPI consumers using their media platform.

Judge Criteria

All submissions will be judged according to the established criteria, scoring process, and relevancy for the category in which they were submitted. Judges will include a select number of 3AF members from within the advertising, media, and multi-cultural marketing community throughout the United States or the 3AF Board of Directors. Judges will reserve the right to withhold an award in any or all categories should the entries received not merit recognition or meet the stated criteria. All decisions of the judges are final.

By submitting an entry, participants acknowledge that the 3AF has all rights to publicize/advertise all entries submitted however necessary in conjunction with the awards competition and post-event promotions and publicity. All entries become the property of the 3AF and cannot be returned. We will include winners’ info in case studies on the 3AF website.
